Inner peace
is within our grasp.
And the eight-fold path of Raja Yoga provides a roadmap for finding
it.
In his classic Yoga Sutra, Patanjali
systematically outlines a technology for reducing suffering. Yet,
it is easy to get lost in the complexity of the Sutra -- and miss
its brilliance -- if you don't have a guide.
Using an actual "roadmap
of the sutras" designed specifically for this highly experiential
program, we will learn to navigate the path of practical wisdom
contained in Patanjali's classic work.
Described as the "heart of yoga"
the Yoga Sutra provides concrete tools for self-understanding. We
will use these tools and focus on their clear, practical applications
in our daily lives.
We will weave together specially selected
asanas, pranayama, yogic meditation, chanting, lively
discussion, journal writing, along with powerful rituals and experiences,
all grounded in the philosophy of Raja Yoga and designed to satisfy
our soul's yearning for serenity.
This program, though part of the Professional-level
Kripalu Yoga Teacher Training
curriculum at Kripalu Center, is appropriate for all who
wish to deepen their understanding of the sutras and discover how
to use them to develop greater equinimity.

Yoga teachers will learn to ground their teaching in yogic philosophy
and incorporate the sutras into their weekly classes. Additionally,
teachers will learn to design workshops that bring the sutras to
life for their students.
Eligible participants will earn 30 credit
hours toward Kripalu Professional-level Certification.
** Please bring along any copies you have
of the Yoga Sutra.
While at Kripalu
guests can enjoy strolling the grounds or hiking the wooded trails
on the property, or having a refreshing swim in the lake followed
by a soak in the hot tubs. You also may choose to participate in
Kripalu's noon-time DansKinetics, special workshops on pranayama,
meditation or asanas, two daily yoga classes, as well as
evening concerts and programs.
Kripalu Healing Arts offers an enormous range
of world class services including acupuncture, ayurvedic treatments,
craniosacral therapy, reiki, aromatherapy, Kripalu Bodywork, neuromuscular

may be booked before arrival or once you are settled in.
Kripalu Center has a well-stocked gift shop
offering yoga supplies and clothing, books, CDs and videos, jewelry

Comments from Raja Yoga of Patanjali,
Auguat 2004:
Sudhakar & Kathleen
were well prepared in the material, fun, light and have obviously
done their own inner work. They were excellent examples of travelers
on the path. The creation of the elaborate map of the sutras and
the interweaving of all the different commentaries to produce a
well-rounded picure of each sutra [was most meaningful]. Rupali,
Honolulu, HI
I'm taking home a visceral
understanding of information I thought I couldn't grasp. The directors
were outstanding in presence and delivery. [They delivered] clear,
detailed instruction grounded in the practices that made abstract
concepts applicable to life. Lynn, Columbia,
MO
The materials and the
manner presented were superb. The yogic philosophy was presented
in a way that I can now pass it on to my students in my yoga classes.
Thanks!
Linda, W. Melbourne, FL
I have gained a firm philosophical
grounding in the practice of yoga... and many tools to try in my
personal spiritual path. The mixture of philosophical discussion
with experiential practice, getting to know the group and their
insights, using/reading from multiple resources and leaving interpretations
for individuals [were most meaningful for me]. Kell,
Bath, ME
Excellent program. I learned
how to apply the sutras to my personal practice. I will practice
the Kriya Yoga of Patanjali and the eight fold path. Grace,
Daytona Beach, FL
Sudhakar & Kathleen
[are] both intelligent, well-organized, professional and
compassionate. [I gained] knowledge that I have been seeking my
entire life -- the roadmap to enlightenment! It will change my life
forever in many ways. Lori, Brewster,
NY
{I appreciated] the coherence
with which the program was presented -- it was extremely well prepared.
Excellent review of the many resources and commentaries. I have
a deeper more cohesive understanding of the foundations of yoga.
[I am] inspired to include them into my classroom teaching.
Comments from Raja Yoga of Patanjali,

A must for any serious student of yoga! Sudhakar and Kathleen
brought the text of the Sutras to life with powerful insights and
sacred experiences -- a beautifully guided journey into what might
have been a difficult uphill climb. Hampton, Charlotte, NC
This
has opened my world in ways I could not have imagined.Your course
was truly the most rewarding and and stimulating learning experience
I have ever had in my life!!! There are not words to thank you for
all the work and effort you two put into making it a masterpiece.
Penny, Madison, WI
The wonderful blend of
the the scholarly and experiential made the sutras come to life.
It was superbly taught and caused intellectual and spiritual changes.
Tom, Tuscaloosa, AL
Ken & Kathleen embody
Kripalu Yoga -- yoga of compassion. Their depth and knowledge of
the sutras and their ability to share their experience was priceless.
It was the most organized, fun, experiential program I've been involved
in since coming to Kripalu 10 years ago.
